Lock Jaw™
security is the best non-electronic security device
developed in years and helps prevent
unwanted entry into any residence. It works with all major
brand residential single cylinder deadbolt locks. The fact
is many are saying that Lock Jaw™ will replace all door
chains, sliding door guards, etc. as the security product of
choice for years to come. Innovative and simple, Lock Jaw™
provides real solutions! Accordingly
to the U.S. Department of Justice Sourcebook:
38.9% of completed or
attempted ‘crimes of violence’ occurred at home.
51.8% of robberies occurred
at home and resulted in injury.
According to a national
insurance company, 2/3rds of all illegal entries are a result of
the following: lock picking, copy of key, prying, spreading door
frame and hammering. Lock Jaw™ prevents all of these. NO other
product can make this claim.
Lock Jaw™ FAQs:
-
Who needs Lock
Jaw™? Anyone who is wants
to feel more safe and secure. Lock Jaw™ is the only cost
effective device specifically designed to
prevent unauthorized entry (such as picking) even with a
key or “bump key”. Those living in apartments, dorm
rooms, rental properties or single family homes should
use Lock Jaw™.
-
Can I still
escape quickly? Yes. In
about 2 seconds you can disengage Lock Jaw™. In case of
a fire, you don’t need to hunt for a key as you would
with a double cylinder deadbolt, or worry about trying
to use the key. Therefore Lock Jaw™ is more useful and
purposeful than a double cylinder deadbolt.
-
Are there any
children and senior safety features?
Yes. It is an excellent security device
for keeping small children (toddlers) inside the
residence. Older children (elementary age) can operate
Lock Jaw™.
-
Will it work
on my deadbolt? Virtually
every single cylinder deadbolt can be protected. Lock
Jaw™ is designed to work with the thumb latch regardless
of its orientation. Works equally well with 12/6, 10/2
or 9/3 thumb latch configurations.

-
Why does it
work better than chain latches, door guards or barrel
bolts? ALL of these
products attach to the door and the door trim with
rather small screws. Relatively little force is required
to defeat these items by the screws being pushed out of
the door trim. Lock Jaw™ is different. Deadbolts are
designed to extend into the door framing, which is many
times stronger than trim work. Lock Jaw™ prevents
retraction of the (dead) bolt and would require enough
force to destroy the framework to defeat it.
-
Is it hard to
install? Not at all. Lock
Jaw™ installs with two screws (supplied) to the door
only. No cutting of trim or template necessary. You can
even use temporary methods such as double-sided
tape and hook-and-loop to install Lock Jaw™, which
allows Lock Jaw™ to be portable.
-
Is it
difficult to operate?
Absolutely not! Even if you use a wheel chair, use any
walking assistance device or have moderate arthritis
anyone can operate Lock Jaw™. Note: most security
devices designed to keep small children inside or make
entry more difficult attach at the top of a door, which
prevents many adults from easily reaching. Lock Jaw™
attaches directly above the deadbolt. If you can reach
your deadbolt you can reach Lock Jaw™.
-
What is it
made of? High grade alloy
(also used in aircraft structures) with a titanium
polished brass plating and protected coating. IF,
someone was trying to pick, bump or even had an
unauthorized key…the key would fail long before Lock
Jaw™ would fail. Why, the transfer of energy generated
from the forces is absorbed through Lock Jaw’s™ bolt to
its housing.
-
How does it
operate? Once installed,
simply loosen the (knurled) pin lock. Lock Jaw’s™ bolt
will automatically – gravity - drop into place. Tighten
the pin and you are done. Loosen the bolt pin and slide
up / tighten pin to disengage. Security at your finger
tips…literally!
-
Will I
accidentally lock myself out of my house, apartment,
dorm room, etc? Thousands
of test conducted by slamming a door at abnormal forces
never resulted in Lock Jaw™ accidentally deploying. Lock
Jaw’s™ lock pin is designed to apply opposing forces
between the bolt and housing, which doubles resistance.
When you tighten the pin, you cannot even push the bolt
down. Conversely, when Lock Jaw™ is engaged and the pin
is tightened you cannot push it up – which is why and
how it keeps small children in!
-
How much does
it cost? Suggested retail
prices are determined by the retailers and our business
partners. We do not pretend to know every market and
therefore we leave this to them. Our internet sales have
been brisk and increasing at an initial price of $24.95
plus shipping and handling. Sales have occurred in all
states.
-
Who knows
about it? Network news
(NBC, ABC and CBS) across the country has featured Lock
Jaw™ as the affordable solution to lock bumping. More
have been scheduled. HGTV featured Lock Jaw™ at the
National Hardware Show in May - with airing scheduled
for September 2007. QVC is featuring during Secure Your
Home special in June 2007. Sales have occurred in every
state.
-
Will it match
the finish of my current door hardware?
Polished brass is the most common color
of deadbolts and hardware in both existing and new homes
by over 85%, which is why we wanted the introduction of
Lock Jaw™ to be brass. Now, it is also plated in nickel
and black chromium finishes. Black chromium is the
latest in hardware finishes and is not only very
attractive but also very durable – it compliments pewter
nicely.
